Summary

SteamSage doesn't require an account and doesn't track your identity. The only data we handle is: (1) the Steam AppID of the game page you're viewing (so we can look up prices), and (2) anonymous aggregate click statistics (which store users click through to). Full details below.

What data the extension processes

  • The extension reads the Steam AppID from the URL of pages under store.steampowered.com/app/*.
  • That AppID is sent to our server to look up current prices.
  • The server returns a list of stores and prices; the extension displays them in an overlay.
  • When you click See offer, the browser follows a redirect through our click endpoint to the destination store.

What we store on our servers

When you click a store link, we log an anonymous row containing:

  • Which store you clicked through to (e.g. "eneba", "kinguin").
  • The game slug (e.g. "elden-ring").
  • Your country code (from Cloudflare's edge, e.g. "ES", "US").
  • The referrer URL and a boolean bot heuristic flag.

We do not store: your IP address, User-Agent string, browsing history, Steam profile info, or any personally identifiable information.

Local browser storage

The extension uses chrome.storage to remember whether you've dismissed the price overlay on a specific game. That data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Third-party services

Our backend is hosted on Hetzner (Germany) with Cloudflare as CDN. When you click through to a store (Steam, Eneba, Kinguin, Instant Gaming, GOG, Humble Bundle, Green Man Gaming, Fanatical, Gamivo, Yuplay, G2A and others), that store may set its own cookies and collect its own analytics — we have no control over third-party privacy practices.

GDPR rights

Because we don't collect personally identifiable information, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you have concerns, contact us at [email protected].
